Our Heritage, Our Story, Our Faith

Our Heritage

The Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa (AFM/AGS) was founded in Johannesburg in May 1908 by John G. Lake and Thomas Hezmalhalch, following the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angeles. It became the first major Pentecostal church in South Africa, built on a foundation of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, divine healing, evangelism, and revival worship.

Today the AFM/AGS is one of the largest Pentecostal churches in South Africa — a movement that has touched countless lives across the nation and beyond.

"A movement born in revival — still transforming lives today."
Baptism of the Holy Spirit

Following the model of the early church in Acts, we believe in the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Divine Healing & Prayer

We believe God still heals today through faith, prayer, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Evangelism & Missions

Reaching the lost for Jesus Christ — both locally in Port Shepstone and across the nations.

Holiness & Revival Worship

Living lives set apart for God, gathered in worship that honours His name and presence.

Our Story

AGS/AFM Kingsway Port Shepstone is a vibrant evangelical church located in Oslo Beach, Port Shepstone, KwaZulu-Natal, led by Pastors Andy and Gladys Ducasse. We are a community of believers who love God, love people, and seek to serve our community with the grace, truth, and compassion of Jesus Christ.

Our church building was opened on 3 May 1997 by Pastor P.S.W. Koekemoer, founded on the promise of Psalm 100:4 — "Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise." We are part of the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM), one of South Africa's largest Pentecostal movements, with a focus on evangelism, discipleship, and community outreach.

Our Vision & Mission

Our Vision

"We are the Church in the community, for the community — a place of healing and hope for the hurting and broken from every walk of life. We believe the Church is not a building, but a people — a people on mission to reach the lost for Jesus Christ as Lord."

Our Mission

"To equip and inspire every believer to reach the broken — through the principles of God's Word, intentional soul-winning, and heartfelt encouragement — with a burning desire to see every soul saved."

"A hospital for the hurting. A family for the lost. A people reaching the broken for Jesus Christ."

Our Core Values

Faith

Trusting God in all things — even when the road is uncertain.

Community

Life is better together. We do life as family.

Prayer

Constant, fervent conversation with our Heavenly Father.

Service

Loving our neighbours in action, not just in words.

Worship

Honouring God with our whole lives — not just on Sunday.

Truth

Grounded in the Word of God as our final authority.

What We Believe

"Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the Lord." — Zechariah 4:6

We believe the Bible is inspired by God and is the final authority for faith and life.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, crucified for our sins, resurrected from the dead, and coming again.

We believe people are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by works.

We believe believers can receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit with spiritual gifts, as seen in the book of Acts.

We believe God still heals today through prayer and faith.

We practice baptism by full immersion as a public confession of faith.

We celebrate communion in remembrance of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection.

We believe in preaching the Gospel to all nations and making disciples.

We believe Christians should live lives of holiness, love, obedience, and service to God.
