Sermon — "Die Krag van die Bloed" (The Power of the Blood)
Drawing from Hebrews 9:12-18, Hebrews 10:19-23, Isaiah 53:4-5, 1 Peter 2:24, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 2 Corinthians 8:9, Mark 16:18, and Colossians 2:14-15, the key themes were:
The Blood already shed — declare it, don't plead it — drawing from Hebrews 9:12, the pastor explained that Christ entered the holy place once for all with His own blood, securing eternal redemption. The blood of Jesus was shed 2,000 years ago and its power remains active today. We do not plead the blood as if it hasn't been applied — we declare the power of His resurrection and the victory of the cross.
Your case is already settled — referencing Hebrews 10:19-23, he reminded the congregation that believers have boldness to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus. The record of debt against us has been nailed to the cross (Colossians 2:14-15). Satan has been disarmed and publicly humiliated — he has no legal case against the child of God.
Healing is in the blood — from Isaiah 53:4-5 and 1 Peter 2:24, the pastor declared that Jesus bore our sicknesses and by His wounds we are healed. Sickness will remain in the house of God until a generation arises that believes and declares the Word. Daily confession of healing is essential — not out of pride, but out of genuine faith.
Prosperity is in the blood — from 2 Corinthians 8:9, he taught that though Christ was rich, He became poor so that through His poverty we might become rich. The same blood that cleanses from sin breaks the power of poverty. Believers must speak to their finances in the name of Jesus, just as they would rebuke sickness.
Apply what you know — referencing his experience in Nigeria, the pastor challenged the congregation: you cannot apply what you haven't walked in. If you haven't pursued a walk of power, you won't walk in power. But if you believe what God's Word says about the blood of Jesus, you will walk in territories others will not.
Approach God with boldness — from Hebrews 10:19-23, he urged believers to draw near with a true heart and full assurance of faith. Our access to God is based on the covenant payment of the blood, not on personal performance. Come boldly — not in shame.
Hold fast to the confession of hope — quoting Hebrews 10:23: "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful." Do not cast away your confidence. Name the accusation and call forth the verdict in the name of Jesus.
